Tom Hardy has spoken about his period of drug addiction, saying that he would have "sold his mother" for a fix.
Speaking to New Zealand's Essentials magazine, the 37-year-old actor spoke candidly about his struggle with crack and alcohol addiction.
"I would have sold my mother for a rock of crack," the Dark Knight Rises actor said, adding that he was "f---ing lucky" to be alive.
"I was a shameful suburban statistic. I was told very clearly, 'you go down that road, Tom, you won't come back. That's it. All you need to know.' And that message stayed with me clearly for the rest of my days."
Hardy shot to fame playing villain Shinzon in the 2002 film Star Trek: Nemesis.
After the film flopped, the Londoner succumbed to both crack and alcohol, an addiction he said resulted in his first wife Sarah Ward divorcing him in 2004
