via IFTTT NFL Star Jason Pierre-Paul Aims to Play Again After Severe Hand Injury: My Index Finger Never Got Me a Sack Despite losing a finger to a Fourth of July fireworks accident earlier this year, New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul insists he's well enough to take the field this NFL season. Pierre-Paul, whose right index finger was amputated just over two months ago, stepped out earlier this week, providing a first look at his injured hand, according to the New York Daily News. The athlete's index finger was clearly missing, and his thumb and middle finger were bandaged. The 26-year-old, an unsigned franchise player, is still campaigning for play time despite the gruesome, healing injury.
